#BeeWell surveys in schools: recent headline findings

#BeeWell is the biggest survey of its kind within the UK. Initiated in Greater Manchester four years ago, it expanded into the south of England in 2023 across Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton. To date they have heard from 130,000 young people across 300 schools.

Greater Manchester

This blog from Anna Freud highlights the impact of the cost of living and food insecurity on young people’s wellbeing in the city, derived from the full GM Headline Findings by #BeeWell.   

Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton 

The Headline findings from 42,000 young people, within 103 schools, across these four diverse regions are available here. With highlights here. 

The wellbeing of young people with special educational needs 

This blog from Anna Freud highlights that young people with special education needs experience far more bullying and discrimination. The full #BeeWell headline findings from 20,000 young people receiving SEN support or with an Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan across all five areas, is available here.

Spotlight on School Belonging – 1 May  

This free online webinar for schools from 4pm to 5pm on Thursday 1 May focuses on areas of wellbeing that have been highlighted by the #BeeWell data and insights from our conversations and engagement with schools.

You will hear from the following speakers:

  • Professor Neil Humphrey, Academic Lead for #BeeWell will take us through the latest research findings from #BeeWell, exploring variations in belonging for different groups, and school-related factors associated with levels of school belonging.
  • Roisin McEvoy, Head of Schools Training and National Programmes at Anna Freud, will be joining us to explore how schools respond to these findings, including how schools can support a positive sense of belonging for young people through approaches to school culture, systems and staff.

You will also have opportunity to consider and discuss the implications of #Beewell data in your local area.
