Evaluating West Ham United's PCN mentoring programme using a mixed methods approach

CORC were commissioned by West Ham United Foundation to conduct an evaluation of their PCN mentoring programme.

Young people (aged 11-18), referred by GPs, receive individual tailored mentoring support from a trained youth worker. The programme focuses on improving mental health, wellbeing and behaviour, specifically confidence and self-esteem; helping to re-establish aspirations and a sense of connection.

The aim of our evaluation is to explore young people’s and mentors’ experiences of the programme and young people’s changes in wellbeing at two time points. The results of the evaluation will help to inform the development of the programme, with a focus on the implementation and scalability of the model.

This is a mixed methods evaluation, comprising standardised outcomes measurement analysis and interviews with staff and young people. It commenced in March 2024 and runs until March 2026 when we hope to share a report / case study.
