YPAS achieves second CORC Badge of Recognition in Staff Development

The Young Person’s Advisory Service (YPAS) has been awarded a CORC Badge of Recognition for Staff Development to recognise good practice in training and supporting staff in outcome measurement. As long-standing CORC members, YPAS’s commitment to developing outcome measurement resulted in achieving a Badge of Recognition for Leadership and Management in 2024.

What are the CORC Badges of Recognition?

CORC’s Best Practice Framework helps services to reflect on and plan their processes for embedding outcome and feedback measurement to improve services for children and young people. The framework focuses on four key themes:

  • Leadership and management

  • Staff development

  • Infrastructure and information management

  • Service user experience

Best Practice Framework

CORC’s Badges of Recognition are awarded to member services who demonstrate effective work in any one of these four areas. YPAS’s badges in Leadership and Management and Staff Development provide recognition of the organisation’s progress in integrating routine outcome monitoring into the delivery of mental health and wellbeing support.

How do YPAS support staff in outcome measurement?

YPAS support staff to use outcome measures effectively as part of their work through a range of resources, including flowcharts and guidance on scoring, interpretation and using measures virtually and by phone. Routine outcome monitoring is embedded into staff journeys, including in job descriptions, induction and staff meetings. Staff are encouraged to attend training, and sessions are tailored to staff need. For example, last year CORC co-delivered a session on using measures as part of support with neurodivergent young people following requests from staff for further training in this area.

YPAS have focused on improving their use of the data from measures in clinical supervision. Over the past year, they have updated their supervision policy to include a focus on data as part of conversations. Staff attended CORC training on using measures in supervision and shared this across their teams. YPAS regularly reviews staff perspectives through the CORC Staff Practice and Attitudes Survey. In the most recent findings, 84% of respondents shared that they use measures ‘nearly all of the time’ and that they were confident to use measures as part of their work. Overall, this work has further embedded the data from measures into the delivery of support.
